The inner bearing disintegrated causing the hub to ride on the spindle. the portion of the spindle where the bearings ride on is not damaged but you can see on the shoulder where the inner bearing seats is slightly damaged. I can knock that off with a file. Does this spindle look ok to reuse by polishing it up with emory cloth and a file? I'd rather not buy a new axle if I don't have to.

Slip that inner race of the inner bearing onto that surface to be sure it's a good snug fit...it's probably O.K., just from the photo....polish the surfaces especially where that inner bearing seal rides....Scotchbrite Pads are good for polishing surfaces....

Thanks for your reply. I was able to get to it today for a better inspection. The underside is completely ground away on the bearing and grease seal areas. I can buy a new spindle and have it welded to the old axle but it will cost as much as a new one. I'm ordering new bearings all around tomorrow and a new axle as well.
