A compression check will indicate if a head gasket is leaking or you have leaky valves and/or bad rings.......

It won't however, tell you if you have a cracked block.

Around this time of year.....if this is the first time you've run it and you have milky oil, it's most likely a cracked block due to poor (or no) winterization.
