Ffirst, I need a part # for the trim sending unit for a 93 Volvo, serial DP-C 3102142943. My marina keeps ordering what the computer tells them, and it's nothing like the one I have (has a rod that extends to the gear turned by the helmet head, held in position with a U shaped hold down clamp). I was hoping you could provide me the correct # as you've done so well in the past ;)

Second, I had the misfortune of hitting a rock with my SS props the other week. The damage was only to the big one of the duals, and the 3 blade ends were all turned in only an inch or so. I found a place to get it repaired, and he didn't find it too bad ($100). After running with my aluminums this weekend though, I still seem to be experiencing vibration, although I'm not sure if it was there before and now that I'm looking for it, it is. Someoene told me this weekend that if you hit SS, you usually damage the gears. Do you agree with this?
I checked out the whole drive visually, and the helmet head and casings all seem to be crack/damage free.
Thanks again for any info you can provide!!!!

Sounds like you want the Potentiometer as they are called, it's item 22 in the picture below.

The part number is 873531, what is the PN on the one they gave you?

Yea, that pretty much explains it. But if only the forward prop (The Big One) is bent, it's doubtful you bent a shaft and usually a broken gear makes noise, not vibration.
Pull the drive, check the ujoints, and check the alignment. When checking the alignment turn the engine 90°, 180° and 270° and recheck it. Should be the same.
Also have them check the aft prop (small one) and make sure it didn't get bent and you just don't see it.

WOW, no wonder you're an Admiral!!!!!!!!!!!!
that was fast, and right on. Yes, the Potentiometer is EXACTLY what I'm looking for, and I never got the P/N they used...just saw the part and knew it wasn't it. They were searching for a trim sending unit, and that's what they got.

I had them check out the small prop too just incase, and I will look into the alignment as well. Thanks again for the great info, and your help. I sure with you were within driving distance. This marina gives me no confidence at all fixing Volvo's, even though they advertise they do, but they're the only one's around these parts.
