Don you posted the following comment and I would like to know if these specs, will apply to the 270,80,and 90 out-drives.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>

" posted September 06, 2004 10:20 AM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is what is in the Mercruiser installation manual. And trust me, that 10 to 16 degree transom angle is a must. If you don't have at LEAST 10 degrees, you are going to have problems with everything during the installation.

Here are links to drawing for a Volvo 5.7 and an 8.1. Both require the same size cutouts, stringers, and transom specs. as the Mercruisers.
5.7 DPS
8.1 DPS

--------------------
Don S.
Ketchikan, Alaska
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I am re-powering from 305 Chevy/OMC to 350 Chevy/270 Volvo. Get the motor mount stringers level, then check the transom angle? If you or Rodbolt have any other ideas and comments on this swap, it would be appreciated.
I want to do it right the first time. :)

Re: Don S.....270 Volvo

While the transom angle must remain in the same range, the cutouts for all the 270, 280 and 290's are different than the DPS and SX style drive
Also the 270's, 280's, and 290's are all different between themselves.
Stringer height and width are the same.
