Don S, my brand new 3.0L has "key start" that does not work. My Dealer and Mercruiser are working thru this problem but as of today have no solution, so I thought I would investigate further and maybe find a loose wire or something simple. Here's what I see.. There is a solenoid at the carburetor with 44 ohms of resistance that probably makes the mixture rich (like a choke) when the engine is cold. The solenoid has a red hot wire and a black/yellow wire connected to a sender at the t-stat housing. The sender is open when the engine is cold. The t-stat housing has two other senders, probably the overheat and the temperature guage sender. That is as far as I can go. Any help with with this would be greatly appreciated.
