Go easy on me Don . I coach for a living. I dont want to sink. I dont know crap about boats but my family loves the fun we have. This 1996 ski deck with a 4.3 volvo OMC has been a blast for us but I try to fix what I can learn about in forums like these. There are no live wells, no toilets, no sinks in this boat . Its a weekend runabout type deal.
Help a rookie out. I thought this might be a fuel vent but cant understand why it would vent into the water. I obviopusly do not understand the working "flow" of boat systems.\

Re: DonS

I'm sorry. I fail to see a question, or an explanation of an occurring problem. Please be more specific.

Re: DonS

Okay. I'm exposing my ignorance. I cannot for the life of me understand the purpose of the thru hull fitting I have found a leak in . This is a 18 foot ski/deck boat and the thru hull fitting is located just to the left of the hull drain in the transom. On the inside of the engine compartment it has a hose which leads up under the fuel tank. This boat is not for fishing so has no live wells. What on the earth is this thru hull and hose for?
Thanks for helping a novice.

Ok,i have read your other thread about the same problem. I have to agree with Don I have never heard of a brand name Skideck, Not saying it doesn't exist, but maybe if you post the Hull Id # we can try to figure out if that is the manufacturer or the model.
In any case I would search around your boat for any coolers or holding tanks that might have a drain in the bottom. Sounds to me like they might have run a drain all the way to the transom, and didn't care about water being in the line as the starting point is above the waterline. Whenever you get on plane the fitting will actually come out of the water and the line will drain.

You could also use your garden hose and put water into the drain hole and see what gets wet.
