Is there anywhere on the net to find what my WOT RPM range is? I have a '79 Evinrude 150 on a '78 17' Glastron runabout. I found one place a little while back and it said wot is 4500-5500. Personally I find that answer alittle broad. I'm looking for something a bit more spacific. Any help would be great.

Re: Don't know my WOT

I looked at the manuals I have and you specific yr/hp is not in them, however most state this as the WOT range, a few others are 5500-6000. The reason this is a "range" is there is not a perfect situation on every boat/ prop, load, weight scenerio. The closer to the top of the range is best, to be sure you are not "lugging" the engine. It will last longer if it isn't lugged.

Different section on prop selecting may help you understand a little better, but basically the correct prop should have you at the top. If it is lower, try a lower pitch prop (smaller number). If it is higher, try a bigger number prop. DO NOT operate the engine over the rated RPM or parts will come out the sides of the engine.

I run a 17 pitch, under load my range is 5500-6000 and this runs me 5800 WOT, trimmed up correctly. If I went to a 15, I would have better acceleration, but would over rev the engine. If I went to 19, it would be a "dog" taking off, but the boat would run faster, but maybe not reach the ideal RPM because of "lugging"

Hope this helped,
Pop

4,500 to 5,500 is the "Full Throttle Operating Range" as stated in the owner's manual and factory service manual specifications sheets for your specific motor.

You should prop your motor so that you can just reach 5,800 RPM at WOT with your average load to keep from lugging the engine.
