I have a 84 Evinrude 115. Last year on the lake the motor started knocking, so we shut down
the motor an brought the boat in. We tore it apart last fall and found that the roller bearing
went bad. We labled and marked everything while it was coming apart. Replaced the bearings
and put it back together the way we maked it. Now we can't get it to start. I have checked and
do get spark and gas. When I try to start it, and it trys to fire, there is a little back kick to the
motor (like it is out of time.) I have been looking over my manual and don't see a way to set the
timing like you would a car (Set to top dead center) if that's the way to do it. I guess that it
could be a number of things, but I'm guessing that it could be the stator misalined. Any ideas?
