Bought some stuff from you (iboats). Also bought some stuff from Cabela's. Got this March-April Journal from them (Cabela's)....roughly 185 pages.

Looking thru it were some advertisements that were/could be of interest to me (unlike stuff that just nausiates you) and lots of fishin info; not like you find in your national magazines.....Outdoor Life, Field and Stream, Bassmasters Classic and all..

And the punch line is that this mag is FREE. Boys you had better be paying attention. Cabela's is stealing your thunder......Think I am going to subscribe to your mag?????.....Not this week, or last, or the week before, or next week......read between the lines////Jump in your power stroke and contemplate it on your way home.

Mark

Re: Don't know where to put this

I think he's saying that Cabelas has a catalog and Iboats does not. Cabelas is just a business, Iboats is a group of guys talking about boats. I'd rather the latter if you ask me...

Mark, whatever you are on, with all respect, discontinue the medicine.

Everyone has a different marketing approach. You can't be everything to all people (although some will try). If you can get your share of sales to make a good honest living, that is often enough for most.

Some are large and impressive operations like Cabelas, and most are not. If you like their shiny cataloques and expensive website covering everything from fishing pajamas to cabin furniture, have fun. I prefer this forum and the guys here. I know by their helpfull website that if I ever need to purchase something of a significant $$$ amount, I can feel confident that I am dealing with folks that I can count on.

Maybe he is ranting at the traditional outdoor mags and not at iboats at all.

Still,

SoLittle, Yes.

Yeah. I have had this rant for many years. You buy a mag to read about things of an educational nature, on a subject which interests you, and my experience has been one article and the other 50 pages (or whatever) are just commercials; not just sporting associated publications, but seemingly everything you pick up. And you get this hot dog pic on the cover and the contents contain nothing about it.....the pic.

The rant wasn't directed at iboats. All the iboats mention was for was indicating the fact that I had purchased things from you too; in addition to Cabela's.....so that someone would know that I shop here too. We don't need a mag. And I don't know what they'd do with a forum. Might be a good idea; i dunno.

Back to the rant: Well if I'm in the market to buy something, great; but every issue, every month. Yeah I know they need to make a living, and I have the choice to not subscribe....which I do/don't however you look at it.

Sorry for the rant, but I was really, really impressed with the Cabela's mag.....first time I ever saw one.

Mark
