Can a bow mount, somehow be mounted on the back of a pontoon? It is a foot controlled Motor Guide.

Like, can a person use a 2 x 6 or 8 x whatever, secure it to the pontoon, and then mount the motor on there as long as it was level?

I have a transom mount 36" shaft 36lb thrust on there and it moves the 15' pontoon, but I'd like to go a bit faster? It's a 42" shaft and 52 lb. thrust.

Since the motor turns to go forward and reverse, is this feasible? Or would the prop be facing the wrong way and present a problem? Don't have to worry about the handle hitting the seat and hanging up, just the head of it smacking my head.

I should explain, there's no steering column in the middle, just a pontoon with 3 seats and a live box under one. So, have to steer from the back with either type of motor, gas or electric. I know it would have to be hard wired.

Thank you. Oh yes... is there anything like a chart that compares regular HP to thrust? Without me having to "cypher". Math is not my strong subject.

yes, the head of the trolling motor can be turned around. usually involves opening the head, removing the retaining pin, pivoting the head replacing the retaining pin, and closing the head. that simple.

Why mount it on the back? Put it on the front for far better handling -- especially in the wind. I take it there is no gas motor on this pontoon? If there is, the troller will need to be mounted off to one side. If the troller has a sissor type mount, regardless how you mounted it the railing will certainly be in the way. That wouldn't be a problem if mounted at the front as most 'toons have a bow gate that could be left open when the motor is stowed or cut off about 8 inches so it will close when the motor is stowed.
