I had a mechanic on my boat to solve a issue with a new stereo I am installing as I am not getting power to the yellow wire on the stereo harness which also has a red stripe around it yet the previous stereo worked and we know the new stereo does work after some wire manipulation

Anyways, mechanic noticed that when the ignition is turned on prior to firing engine there is no alarm sensor. Did Doral make the boat with an alarm sensor that sounds prior to engine startup, or does an alarm only sound in event of low oil pressure or other issues. Is the boat wired so one can easily connect an alarm sensor to ignition, is it worthwileh having as I am new to this whole gig.

As example my friends 24ft 04 Maxxum has the sensor and after he had his leg oil changed and was dropped back in to the salt the alarm at startup just continuously beeped. it turned out that his leg oil reservoir was not topped off and once it was the boat started as normal, so it is a preventative aid , had it not been there if oil in the leg was low there could have been a potential future issue

Yellow wire has power through a fuse in the engine room 12V junction box (gray box). Check the fuse and switch there first.
The engine alarm should be behind the helm.

I have a 2001 and is exactly the same (1999-2002 are the same). If you need the factory wiring diagram, PM me your email and its yours................

You can also find the beeper wiring, use a Mercruiser service manual. (have that too if needed, let me know what engine).

Thanks I pm'd you. Mechanic looked behind the helm from washroom and was unable to located engine alarm. My boat is a Canadian version, could this have been optional as original owner said it never had an alarm from day he bought it new. I have the bill of sale with accessories purchased, 2000 w a 5.7GS Volvo motor. I will look for the fuse in the gray box

Wiring diagram on it's way to you.
If you have a Volvo engine, you should look for a Volvo service manual.
If you have a Mercruiser, let me know what type.
