Good morning fellow boaters. We are almost at the end of our endeavour to restore this beauty.

We have spent the last couple of weekends opening as many accesses as we can to clean out the bilge areas. The winter thaw and warming of spring is bringing out some lovely aromas.

During the course of this journey we discovered another sump pump in the centre bilge area behind the fresh water tank.

We discovered another bilge area under the table holder in the lower berth that does not appear to drain to the main bilge. As well there are other areas behind the shower sump and hot water heater that also do not appear to drain to the main bilge.

We have been cleaning and using a shop vac to get out as must moisture as we can these areas.

Does anyone know of any other accesses we can find to ensure we don't miss an opportunity to clean them? And if you happen to know how or where these other zones can connect to the main bilge....please please share.

Thank you!

Re: Doral Prestancia 300 1989 ~ Bilge Areas Question

Hello,
I have nothing to offer. Seems like the set up on the 1989 is different than the 1990 or each boat is different. on my 300 we have a shower sump behind the stairs in a closet. Another pump in the bilge and I installed a second higher capacity one in the bilge. I was only aware of 2 pumps in the whole boat. As far as drainiage the one behind the shower doesnt drain to the bilge. It requires the sump. Knock on wood I have no strange smells coming from the under belly of her. Good luck in finding where they drain.

Ugh well it turns out that the odours we were enjoying were due to a leaking waste tank. We pumped out the boat before it was stored for the winter so the aromas were not obvious. In addition, the other owner had been using Campaclean to try to subdue the smell. We have since removed the old tank and replaced the lines. What a fun project lol.
