Double checking Engine Rotation

Hi all,

Pretty exciting times! I am preparing to pull my 1979 Chevy 305 (Mercruiser 898)motor and swapping out for a 350 block (something I have never done before). There is one nagging question I just can't seem to find a good answer for and it involves engine rotation. Seems to me I read somewhere that all single engine boats have a standard rotation which seems to make sense but with my luck it won't hold true in my case. Is it safe to assume that my motor has a standard rotation?

I suppose I could ask the place where I am buying my block but I would feel better if I had an answer from the brain trust! :D

Thank you!

Re: Double checking Engine Rotation

Thank you everyone! It looks like I need to break out the jumper cables and see if I can't get it to turn over a little to see what the rotation is. Thank you!:D

To clarify for the uninformed, you determine engine rotation when looking at the flywheel, NOT the front of the engine.

Ayuh,... My Avatar is a standard rotation motor, viewed from the Workin' end,....;)
