Hey, it's been awhile. I haven't done much boating in the last year or two. My first boat that I bought 7-8 years ago was an old Saf-T-Mate. Then a few years ago I bought a bowrider for tubing with the family. I couldn't bring myself to part with the old Saf-T-Mate though, much to my wife's frustration. It was still a good fishing boat.

Well, the bowrider gave me a bunch of problems. Plus, it turned out my kids & wife weren't really into tubing. Last summer, for various reasons, I only took the bowrider out once and the Saf-T-Mate not at all.

So I sold the bowrider last week. Yesterday I thought I would try to resurrect the STM after sitting forlorn for two winters.

First, the trailer- so i can move the boat to where i can work on it. One tire was flat and rotted so I replaced it. Checked bearings & races, still look good. Move to spot where the hose and muffs will reach.

Instal battery. Electrical seems to be in order. Power tilt on motor working. So far so good.

Check "how to awaken sleeping outboard" sticky post advice. Take out plugs, add some TCW3 oil to cylinders. The guide says to let the oil seep in for a day, but manually turning the flywheel, it seemed smooth, so I said what the heck. Added some seafoam to the gas tank and turned the key.

The old 72 Evinrude Triumph started right up on the second turn of the key!

So, back to my first love :)
