Hi all,
I've been browsing this forum for the last week. Lots of information and helpful people from all over! I purchased a 94 sea ray with the infamous mercury sportjet 90 with no spark. Originally purchased by a friend of mine. It wouldn't turn over but he found a washer jammed between the flywheel magnets and the stator. He gave up and was told the boat is a lost cause.
I tested the red stator per the instructions posted here. Open
I tested the trigger and two wires in spec and one open.
Purchased a used red stator - 695 ohms
Purchased a used original trigger - test ok all three wires
I do not have a DVA tester but need to invest in one.
No power at coil positive with regular MM or at wht/blk on CDI
60 volts on blue wire after "your favorite candy bar"
It seems to me I have a couple options.
Rework a toasted CDI myself as I have seen aksor do on a previous post. What can I lose right?
Purchase a new CDI. Which could burn up at any point it seems.
Purchase a CDM conversion and this is where my question is. With my setup can I purchase the 3 CDM units and the wiring harness and be ok? I see corwley does not have all the parts nor do I want to buy them.
Any information would be helpful
