I need to pull the trim cylinders to rebuild. Boat is considerable distance away and I would like to show up with proper toosl. Does anyone know the size of the wrench required to take off hydraulic lines. I need to buy a flare wrench and forget if it is metric or standard and what size it is.
They are 2004 drives.

Sears has a 5 piece flare nut set for about $30, metric. That should have you covered. Item # 00942013000P Model # 42013

On the DP-C drive, you have to use a grease gun to hydraulically remove the pin at the transom. If it's stuck, VP has a special tool that is a grease cylinder with a piston that you can strike with a hammer to break it loose, after you remove the plug on the inside of the transom plate. I have to remove mine in about 2 months, and I'm dreading the job since I've heard the pins can get really stuck.

Jet, just rebuild them while on the shield. No need to remove the lines.

I can't believe VP doesn't offer a rebuild kit with the necessary seals and orings for these cylinders. Anyone had any experience with the kit ($150) offered on the bay by volvopentaparts that does 2 cylinders? Mine are the later version (DP-C) with the round end caps.

I thought about this. I think it would be easier and cleaner to do on a work bench. The boat is framed in heated storage with not much light.
