Hello all,
I have a 2015 Chaparral 270 Signature rigged with a DPS-B outdrive. The drive has developed a creaking noise when turning the steering wheel slowly. As in docking maneuvers. The noise seems to come from the steering arm that extends through the transom. I have tried spray lubricants from both inside the bilge compartment and from the outside as well. The noise still persists and is driving me crazy. Has anyone else had this issue and how did you get it fixed?

Did you ever get this issue resolved? I have mine torn apart right now waiting for parts. On mine it appears that the upper bushing and shaft are bad.

Rathdrum,
I have not pulled the boat out of the water yet. I will put it back on trailer over the Thanksgiving holiday to address the creaking noise and to send the trim rams to Florida for a rebuild.
The last couple of weekends the creaking noise has disappeared. I'm not sure if the creeping lubricant I sprayed generously inside & out finally made it's way to the bushing or the water temp getting much cooler has effected the pivot point...
Where you able to replace the bushing without completely removing the transom assembly from the boat?

I am currently in the process of rebuilding the transom assembly. I was able to use a dremel to cut the old bushing in order to remove it. I ordered the tool for the bushing as well as a new bushing and steering shaft along with a ton of other parts. At this point I have not removed the transom shield from the hull. Everything so far has been pretty straight forward, lots of cleaning, painting and reassembly.
