Hi,

I want to touch up some sections of my DPSA drives where paint is bubbled . Boat was during its first two years in a fresh water lake slip but now I keep it on a lift so I guess that paint job will last more after this job.

Ive found this post

http://forums.iboats.com/volvo-pent...nt-peeling-2002-2003-dp-outdrives-529870.html

That details the process pretty well but I'm still in doubt about how to work on some sections where the aluminum has turned black. (I believe that's the aluminum oxidation process). So far Ive been removing the bad paint with a 80 grit sand paper but these black sections are harder to deal with so I don't want to remove too much good shiny aluminum from the sections around them. Therefore, is there any acid or conversion type of product to deal with these black aluminum areas?
I have not tried the Dupont 226s or 5717 yet so I'm unsure if these products will help on removing the black aluminum.

Thanks in advance
