I would like to drain the fuel from the carbs in my '77 merc 1150. Is there a drain screw/plug? Where is it?

You can drain them by removing the brass plugs at the bottom of the float bowls. Then tilt the motor all the way up and back down too.

That said... you're better off putting stabilizer in the gas and leaving them *full* and pumping the ball every couple weeks to keep them full.

You can never drain them 100% and what's left will surely evaporate and leave "stuff" behind.

-W (who has never drained a carb yet)

The problem is I had my neighbour do the winterizing for me this year and he forgot the stabilizer. So, I want to drain the fuel and then pump some stabilized fuel into the bowls so i can avoid having to redo the whole process. Is this reasonable?

Add stabizer and run it on the muffs for about 15 minutes at idle or 1500rpm. Screw the fogger.

-W
