I went to go put my new axle on and realized the pre-drilled drain hole is on the top. My trailer has always been set up for the axle to go above the springs so I guess I shouldn’t have bought pre-drilled. I’m going to have to drill a drain hole on the bottom side now but should I plug the top existing hole? I can’t see why it would matter if I did but figured I would ask. Thanks.

I would just drill the bottom drain hole and not worry about it, it does not take a large hole

I would plug the top to help keep water from entering when you dunk it. Air pressure will happen and only a little water come in instead of the whole axle filling up. The good part is for corrosion maintenance you can unplug the top and plug the bottom to put oil to coat the insides. It doesn't take much oil to migrate.
