Not sure what your question is - and it looks like your post was cut off. Can you repost with some pictures of what you are talking about? Not sure what holes you are referring to.

Ayuh,... That's My guess too,.... I'd skip the pipe, 'n slather in some PB, 'n smuoge it 'round,...

Slather... is that a Nautical Term. Is it related to "Slosh" or "Smudge" or possibly "Squish". I really love to learn all this great Boat restoration terminology.
