drain holes in floor to bilge area..................

here is the situation...i have a '99 palm beach 185 cc. it has two scuppers on the transom. i use the boat 95% of the time in fresh water lakes here in the piedmont area of north carolina. while fishing in the rain, the boat has no where for the rain water to go so it ends up at the rear of the boat in a large pool. i was wanting to install two drain holes that will lead into the bilge area for such ocassions as this. do you see any problem with this? i hate having to crank the motor and get under way just to drain the water out the scuppers!!

Wouldn't be better to connect the floor drains to drain fittings in the transom a send the water overboard

I thought the whole point of scuppers is that they drained water off the deck. I take it they are not at deck level? <br /><br />If you are going to drill holes in the floor, just be sure to seal the sides of the holes so water doesn't soak into the wood causing floor rot. Maybe use these replacement transom drain tubes and epoxy in place in the floor for a neat and water tight seal:<br /><br />
