1 .Can anyone recommend a good moderately priced oil drain pump?

2. Or, tell me how to drain the oil from the valve attached to the oil pan, there's not much clearance.

Volvo Penta GM 305 1979

Thanks.

Re: drain oil

Tempo make a tall plastic one that works great. You can see the oil as it is pulled from the engine. It holds about 5 quarts. I got mine a couple years ago from West Marine for $50.

It sucks the oil out of the dipstick within 5 minutes. Start and warm up the engine to normal temperature before you attempt to remove the oil or it may take much longer to pull out cold oil.

Time to winterize ! !

Tempo is out of biz, but Moeller sells the same pump,#33340, 6.5 liter capacity. Jabsco also has decent hand pumps

Any vacuum-operated pump and container system will be fine. Key points for me are transparent hose and container so you can see what's happening. Otherwise, just go to Wallmart and see what they have.

Electric or hand pumps seem like a bother to me, but others will likely disagree.
