I have a 97 aluminum bass tracker. I live on a lake and it sits in the water. Lately it has been taking on water. I found one leak and fixed it however the other leak seems to be drain plug. About every year I have to replace drain plug. Is there a way of installing a threaded screw in type metal plug.

yes, you can install a threaded garboard plug.

I want to say thanks for your advice. Sorry I haven't replied sooner. Had major surgery on the 15th of October. Now I feel like fooling with it again. Your ideas although good will not work on this boat. Drain hole is right at the bottom of boat. The circular flange would overhang. However I came up with a solution.. I put a 1/2" pvc pipe inside the drain tube I sealed this with 3m 4200 adhevise. Love that stuff. Then I put a theaded fitting on end of pvc pipe where I screw in my plug. the plug is on the inside of boat same as when I bought it. The drain tube was in really bad shape even found a crack. This should fix it. Also found another possible leak that I repaired. There was a patch on back of boat that looks like it was also leaking. Looks like guy had installed a transducer at one time then removed it. He then decided to plug holes. He used some kind of silicone crap. Must have been a pound of silicone inside the boat. Silicone is not a good choice for something submerged. I patched these holes with marine tex. Should hold.
