the type C lube is BRP Premium Blend type C for electric lower units. dealer item. you can order it here. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001KYH6F2...e=380337&creativeASIN=B001KYH6F2&linkCode=asn

Changing lower unit oil

There are 2 straight slot screw on the starboard side of the lower unit. Top is vent plug, bottom, drain and fill plug. ( do not touch Phillips head screw).

Remove the bottom plug, put container under lower unit, now remove the vent plug, while the oil is draining, replace the seals on the plugs part # 311598, buy several of these, ( they are a one time use item)

Walmart and many places sell a little hand pump. To use to fill the unit, you insert the tube into the bottom hole, and pump till oil reaches the vent hole. Install the vent screw, then remove hose, install the drain-fill screw, clean up mess.

The screws can be hard to get out, do not mess up the head. You may need to employ an impact screw driver to break them loose.

Make sure to get the right pump from Walmart or other place. First, they sell one near the marine oils or near boat accessories that screws into the oil container. This one comes with a screw fitting on the end of the hose and an adapter for Yamaha LU.

They sell another that is orange, as I recall. The orange one will pump oil, but has not fittings and will make a mess potentially. I recommend the first one.

I have the pump. I just want to order those things off the website and am too lazy to search for the numbers...got what I need. Thanks. Someone indicated that you should change those washers every time you loosen the screws.
