???? Draining a 1985 3.0 merc for winter

I just replaced the riser and it doesn't have a drain plug. It it ok just to drain the manifold and engine? (its a open system)<br />I already fogged the engine and changed the oil and realized I now only have 2 drains. I also took off the water hose.<br />Next is the outdrive fluid.<br />I am worried about any water in the riser freezing will it drain out the manifold?I am in NY<br />Thanks Mike

Just make sure you got all the water out by poking the drains out with a hanger to make sure they didn't clog at all....Are we talking water hose from transom to power steering cooler/water pump? Change the gear lube & you should be good to go. And the drain plug on the boat itself, of course....JK
