Re: Draining carb bowls

At the bottom front of each carb there is a brass main jet plug.

Place a couple of paper towels or shop rags under the carb to catch the drainage.

Remove the plug with a 7/16" wrench, tilt the motor up a bit, and virtually all the fuel will drain out of the carb.

There's a fiber gasket under each plug; make sure the gasket stays in place and tighten down the plug after draining.

That should do it! HTH..........ed

Re: Draining carb bowls

Letting an engine run out of fuel means all cylinders don't run out at exactly the same time. No fuel means no lubrication. Draining the carbs also means oil residue and air are present which means the carb is prone to gum and varnish build up. Treat the fuel, run the engine long enough to make sure the carbs have treated fuel in them. Fog the engine, change the lower unit lub and you are good for at least six months of storage.
