I'm winterizing my outboard but unfortunately I can't get it started. I've changed the lower unit oil and sprayed fogging oil into the cylinders and carbs and manually turned the fly wheel a few times. Is there a way I can drain the carbs of gasoline since it wasn't given any stabilizer?

Thanks

Each carburetor has 2 drain plugs, one on either side.----So there are a total of 4 of them.----But you only need to remove one on each carburetor since the float bowl is common to both sides.

Yes, the carbs have drain screws on the side near the bottom of the float bowl however, they are a pain in the butt to reach.

Bombardier makes a special, short screw driver with a hex head on one end for just that purpose. About 1" long with a screwdriver blade on the other end. For getting to the bowl drains on the bottom carb. Sorry, I don't have the part number. I drain all the bowls on my VRO carbs each fall, too.

I'm a little confused, Racerone seems to indicate that the screws are on the side near the bottom but Emdsapmgr seems to say they are under the carbs. When I was looking at the carbs I saw to screws near the bottom of each carb. One was a little larger than the other. I thought that these might be mixture adjustment screws so I didn't mess with them. Is one of these screws the drain screw or am I looking in the wrong place?

The drain plugs are on the bottom of the float bowls on the SIDES.

Sorry to reopen this question but I haven't been back to the boat yet to drain the carbs. I've purchased a Johnson repair manual and it states that there are two orifice screw plugs positioned vertically on each side of the float bowl. Are these the drain plugs that you are referring to?

The lower screw on the SIDE of the bowl is the drain screw.---Just take it out , drain the fuel and re-install it.-----Just need to remove one drain screw per carburetor !---Orifice plugs are NOT drain screws.

So I managed to drop one of these little drain plug screws and can't locate it. Does anyone know the size and where I can order new ones?

Thanks, Mark

Carb bowl drain plug: factory part number 323783. Drain plug oring: 321117 If the drain plug does not come with the o-ring, you will need one of them, too.
