Draining exhaust manifolds?

1984 3.8l v6, opened the lower drain cocks on manifolds and water drained out as usual, but also took 3/4 plugs hex key plugs out and a fair bit of water drained from them, never took these plugs out before. do these drain the same cooling chamber as the lower **** drains.

If you mean the ones ones on the front of the riser, my guess would be the passage through the riser gasket is plugged with scale trapping water above the riser to manifold seam. That water should all drain right out the bottom.

Tks for reply Howard, I meant the ones in the very front of the log, is that the same outcome?

not sure. Might the front of the motor have been trimmed down so the water pooled forward? I suppose trimming full up and down a few times after opening drains might be advised.
Otherwise might be trapped by corrosion or just an area where water doesn't exit easily.

Draining the petcock should take all the water out.
If the manifolds old(how old) it could have crud built up in them?
Maybe a piece of wire or welding rod up in the hole?
Depending on the age? It might be time for a change?

Tks for reply boys, yes i did run a wire up the hole after there was stream came out, i just took the front plugs out for curioucity and more drained out, Howard had the idea, the motor was trimmed down and a bit of water run to the front. Trimmed it level and a little more drained, so i guess im good now, didnt do that last year but couldnt have been much left up front to do any damage.
its on my list for nx year now.
