Draining the seawater system in an AQ125A

Please help! I am new to boating, new to this boat and this is the first time I have winterized a boat. I followed the manual and the wingerizing procedures in the sticky. I still think there is water in the seawater side of the system.

Found the plug under the heat exchanger, check. Found the plug on the pipe from the heat exchanger to the exhaust, check. Opened the seawater pump and drained the water, check.

I did notice that a lot of water poured from the pipe between the heat exchanger and the exhaust, it wasn't a low point, IMHO. Are there any other plugs that need to be opened? How about the drive, an Aquamatic 270, does the seawater flow freely in and out of it so that it is now empty or do I need to do something else?

Thanks in advance for looking at this! It will greatly put my mind at ease to know that the water is out of her.

I followed the same info you did, but added a couple of steps.

Once I opened all the drain valves I took off he cover for the sea water filtre and used compressed air. I covered it with a rag to make a bit of a seal. Not too much air. Just enough to get the remainder of the water moving, if there was any. Some came out. After that, I took of the face of the sea water pump and used the compressed air again to blow out the little bit of water in there. Then I blew out the sea water intake pipe from the pump to the outdrive. I couldn't think of anywhere else water might sit. The closed side of the cooling system had good antifreeze in it so I topped it up and left it.

Hope that helps.

Hey.... if anyone else see's issues with what I did, please say so, so I can go deal with it before I wreck something. This is the first time winterizing this motor for me too.

Thanks.

Sounds like you have it covered, thanks. Did you notice a plug or anything on the exhaust pipe?

By exhaust pipe, I'm guessing you mean the part of the exhaust after the rubber boot from the exhaust manifold. Nothing there. Judgeing from some pictures of the motor I have (can't actually check as the my boat is a few hundred kilometers away in storage), there may be a drain at the bottom of the heat exchanger that you might want to look into opening to see if anything comes out. I tried to get more info from my manual, but I'm still unsure as the manual covers the 125B and 145 motors. Maybe someone with more experience can add in here.
