Draining Volvo GL-G block & Winterizing

Have a couple of questions about winterizing our boat. This past weekend I drained the block, wanted to make sure I didnt miss anything. I pulled the drain plugs on each side of the block, removed drain plugs on each manifold, removed the intake manifold drain(hardly any water came out of this), pulled the two hoses off of the raw water pump, and pulled the large hose off of the circulating pump. All holes were probed and plenty of water came out. Also fogged the engine. Missing anything?

Also, I plan on pulling the O/D off over the winter and checking the bellows+alignment. Ive got the manual from Don, but is there a kit you can buy for the seals and orings that are needed? There are 3 plugs you must remove to change the oil then what ever seals are needed to put the O/D back on. Ive searched here on iboats and only found the kit that comes with the bellows and, what I think is, the seal for the intake passage. I want to replace those orings on the plugs for changing the oil also.

Where is the best place to find the mercruiser Hi Perf oil? Our walmart had one 8oz tube for $8. Manual states it takes 90oz. Ive never been able to find what weight the Merc High Perf oil is. Manual states our SX drive needs 75w-90.

One last thing, were does everyone buy the adapter needed to screw into the O/D to pressure check it?

Ayuh,... It sounds like you've got it well Drained,...

Mobil 1 is 75W-90,.... Just no pretty color like the Merc oils...
Valvoline, 'n most other Syn-oils are 75W-90...
Mineral oils would be the 80W-90s...

Don't forget about draining the power steering fluid cooler.

Thats drained when you remove the hose going to the raw water pump Im pretty sure. It says nothing about it in the manual.

Any ideas on the other questions?

Thanks Don. Ive covered pretty much everything in that link. Just wanted to make 100% sure when the raw water hose is removed it drains the power steering cooler. Manual says nothing about that but I keep reading threads that say the power steering cooler needs to be drained, but no one says how. Im 98% sure removing that hose drains it though.

Any advice on if only that one seal needs(for the water intake) to be replaced if I remove the O/D? Id love to know if there is a kit that includes the 3 seals for the drain plug, vent and dip stick along with the seals for removing the O/D.

There are no kits, you have to order the seals seperately.

As far as is your engine drained properly, I have no clue. I never say something is done right without seeing it and knowing what went on.
As far as your power steering cooler, if your's is one that sits at an angle on the back of the engine, and the hose on the lower end of the cooler is removed, then I would say it should be drained. But since I can't see it, I would never say, "Yeah, it's good to go"

Thanks Don! Thats all I needed to know. The Power steering cooler is the one thats angled on the back of the engine..

If the cooler is mounted horizontally, remove one hose on the pwr strg cooler then loosen the nut that holds the cooler, then tip the open end downward to drain it.
If the cooler mounted vertically then just remove the lower hose.
