Am I supposed to drain the engine and manifolds after each use or just for storage?

So leaving the water in reduces the rusting process?

Is it fresh or salt water?
Have you downloaded the manuals for your engine and drive yet?

Re: draining water from engine and manifolds

It is fresh water. I did and I didn,t see anything other than draining it for storage and flushing it if used in seawater. I will look again.

Since you asked the question, I am going to assume that it is best to leave it in. In that case, would it be better to drain it when I get back from the lake and fill it with 50/50 Prestone and drain it just before going to the lake again and repeat the process each time? That way 50/50 Prestone is in it at all times when at home.

Thanks for the help!

Howdy,

In reality, you'll be just fine if you drain the block, manifolds and oil/PS coolers(if installed). (if you live where it can/does freeze)

It's just not necessary to do anything additional.

If you want to prevent (normal) corrosion of the block and manifolds, install closed cooling on your NEXT new engine and new manifolds.

Ayuh,... Only if you want to Waste gallons of antifreeze....

In Freshwater, there's absolutely No reason for concerns about Rusting...
