I do quite a bit of fishing from my pontoon & a lot of the times it is windy where I am located. So I am looking at getting a drift sock/anchor to help slow down my 24' toon when I am drift fishing & jigging. Tried a search on here & not much out there on this subject so I was looking for a little help & experience from others. What size sock/anchor are you using? Are you using 1 big one or two little ones? Where are you tying them off to? Any other info is appreciated!

Amazon has them for $23....but if want to go the cheap way, then just use a plain 'ol 5 gallon bucket with holes cut out of the sides (don't use handle to tie to). Bucket doubles as porta-potty, fish holder, etc.

Re: Drift sock/anchor

Drift socks, originally called "sea anchors", are generally best when used in pairs. Using one on the bow will keep the bow pointed into the wind during your drift. Using another sock on the stern will cause the boat to drift "broadside" to the wind and give you a wider breadth to your approaching fishing area. Probably you want something in the 50" to 60" size. Good Luck!
