Drill chuck problem

One one of my Dewalt 14V drills the keyless chuck had a sticky spot when loosening or tighting. Finally it stuck. I put a few drops of 3in1 oil in the jaws and worked it a bit. Now each of the 3 jaws protrude at different lengths. The chuck is really screwed now. Should I just replace the chuck with a Jacobs or is there a way to take it apart and fix it?

I tried to take one apart one time fore the same reason (had a glitch then froze up) I spent more time than it was worth on it onl to find out that it couldn't be fixed without replacement parts. Cheaper to buy a new one or just a new drill cause it probably isn't far behind it going out.

I second that. The only way it could do that is if there was some spontaneous dental work on the gears inside. Knock it off and thread on a decent one.

Yea I'm stuck deciding what to do. I have 2 identical drills with 2 batteries for each drill. All 4 batteries need to be refilled or replaced.

Anyone know which Jacobs keyless chuck fits a Dewalt 14v (not XRP) drill?

There are so many of those drills around on the way to the junk heap I don't think that I would buy a new chuck because they are plentiful if you know where to look.I bet an ad on Craigslist would produce one in short order.
I am going to include a link to the chuck removal process that I have used many times on different brand drills which leads me to believe that it is a common configuration among manufacturers.Indeed,I have the exact model Makita that this article was written for but I have used it on Dewalt among others.Ron G

Also if there is a power tool repair shop around yoou you may want to check and see if they have any used or tools being disposed of and can rob a few parts from

Oil is where you went wrong. The problem is that dust and crap gets lodge in there and causes binding. Oil makes it worse. Wash it out with brake cleaner and let it dry thoroughly and then lubricate with fine powder graphite, available at any hardware store.
