Wedding rings don't float either... <br /><br />My sisters husband is a sportsman fanatic and she went fishing with him a lot and this was about a month after they were married... They were out on the lake and the fishing was a little slow and she got bored and stopped fishing and started twiddling her ring on her finger ($1200 ring). You guessed it, it fell off her finger and went "TINK" on the rail of the boat and in the lake. It was only 4 feet deep and muck so my Bro in law waded / swam for an hour looking for it to no avail. She felt really bad about it and all I could do was laugh when she was telling me the story. Fortunately it was insured...

Wrist watches dont float either.<br /><br />A few years ago my brother jumped from a friends boat onto a jetty and heard splash as his wrist watch went swimming. The water was 10' deep and Im the only one in the family with scuba equipment but was many miles away and getting ready to go on leave and could not help immediately. Three months later we got together and booked in at the river resort for a week-end and planned a dive for the next day as soon as the sun was high enough to help with visibility in the very murky water. The next morning getting dressed and testing the equipment took about 20 minutes. I was in the water for less than 1 minute when I found the watch and I was back on the jetty before my co-diver/brother could get his feet wet. Big surprise, big cheers and beers all round.<br />The watch, a ssteel Seiko, was ticking over about 1 minute slow (could have been like that from the beginning) and apart from a few small white spots that were washed off with soapy water, had no damage or leaks and ran perfectly for years until it died while fighting a car engine. <br />D
