I've fixed this drip before with new o-ring and the inner seal but it was a year or so ago and now I'm second guessing myelf. I noticed the leak starting her up in the driveway on the muffs two weeks ago. (Pic if from a fix a three years ago, but same sympotms)
I replaced the inner seal and o-ring and started her up. Awesome, no leak. Fixed right? (BTW; impeller is in good condition) Because we have the zebra mussle inspections at our lakes around here everythings has to be bone dry before launching so I lowered the outdrive to drain water and about a cup of water drips out of the weep holes. Impeller housing is very warm. Engine heads are not. So now I'm panicing I did something wrong.
I start er up again this time with the prop down and water flowing. Run it for a while. Impeller is cold (whew!) No drips while running. Sweet! I let it get up to regular operating temp. Everythings still fine. Kill the engine, stop the water flow, hear the water now evacuating out of places in the tubes and all since the prop is down. No leaks. fingers crossed. Impeller housing is not warm.
Am I just paranoid? Is is supposed to leak like that? I don't know if I've done the whole drop the prop procedure in the driveway and watch drips come out. Since I've been turned away at the launch ramp before due to water coming out of the intakes on the outdrive I always drop if now in the driveway to be sure.
Thanks for your thoughts.
