Can someone help me ID this drive? I know it's of the 270/280/290 persuasion, but I don't know what the things on the sides are. I included a picture of the engine if that helps any.IMG_4563.jpgIMG_8701.jpg

Re: Drive Identification

From the looks of the engine, you have an explosion hazard waiting to happen. You have an automotive distributor, and automotive electric fuel pump. Probably not hooked up right so it only runs with the engine running.
Any fuel leak from automotive parts (Carb, fuel pump, incorrect fuel line, etc.) and a spark from un-protected electrical automotive parts like your distributor, possibly the alternator and starter. Could just blow the back end of the boat off.

Re: Drive Identification

Thanks for the heads up about the motor and the information about the 280pt. This is a boat I'm looking at getting for parts to use on an old chris craft without power trim. The motor would be a project 383 for the future. Worth looking at the boat? He wants 700 for the whole thing and swears everything works. He said the boat rotted away and that's why he is getting rid of it.
