Hey guys!
Dropped the foot on my 89 200hp xl shaft today to change the water pump. The drive shaft bushing fell out in pieces :( . The shaft, in that area has some scoring rings, not real deep, but deeper than I could ever get out with emery cloth!
If I smooth the shaft as much as possible, and replace the bushing, do you think the new bushing will survive?
Thanks for any help... Is there any reason this bushing is so expensive? From the broken parts that fell out, it looked like a rubber ring with a steel sleave.
The local Yam dealer I ordered it from called me to make sure this was the part I really wanted. Says it is a $110 bushing, even surprised him as he and I were expecting a 20-$25 part??

Canuck 16
