Folks,
I need a drive shaft for my 1985 90HP Evinrude 20" shaft. My old one snapped below the water pump. I need the one with the Flat spot for the key in the water pump not the slot fo the woodruff key. I had sticker shock when the repair shop said a new 2 piece one was $485. Any help would be appreciated I'm working on a budget.

Re: Drive shaft needed

Sorry to say, but I checked out a couple of suppliers on the Net and the price is about the same! I could not find your exact one, but the others that were close, were the same price you were quoted. Good Luck and maybe someone here might have one laying around!

kart33

I feel for you....I went through the same with my 86 90hp. Finally ended up fixing the old one. Even the jobber prices are high. I think you may have more luck finding an old engine complete or just the leg.....

Re: Drive shaft needed

Shafts for various outboards infrequently appear on e-bay. More frequently, complete used lower units, with the drive shaft, go for considerably less than you are being quoted for the shaft alone. This option would give you other spare parts for future needs. Think I recently saw a J/E V-4 lower on e-bay for a very reasonable price.
