I'm about to replace the impeller on my 73 115hp V4. I've purchased the kit (impeller, seals, o-rings -- but no housing though) and I'll probably go ahead and replace the drive shaft seal while I'm at it.

Now I've recently purchased this boat and it is my first one, so I'm ignorant when it come to this stuff, but I'm wondering if the kit includeds a drive shaft seal. It is a NAPA kit and it has one seal that looks like the pic I see online (its metal with a spring seal and rubber gasket). Does this part sound like a drive shaft seal or do I need to order one?

Re: Drive shat seal replacement

It sounds like it COULD be the drive shaft seal.

Some of the kits Ive purchased have come with it some not.

As far as it being the right one , you'll find out when you get it apart.

If your doing this work without a manual, its not a good idea .

Should have waited until you took it apart and inspected the housing, seals etc.

Then you'd have known what you needed.
