Has anyone every had a pre-alpha equipped with drive shower? I know these things raise a bit of a debate but I'm interested in having on installed on my outdrive (77' merc 350/250hp). I have looked at a few manufacturers but they are all for the alpha and bravo drives

I got mine thru SEI. Not sure if it will make a long term difference but since i was spending the money on a new leg i figured a few bucks more would be ok and im sure its not hurting anything.

Don't know of one made for your model drive. As you probably know the bravo's won't work because then is no bolt on the back to hold it and the cap you have the alpha's won't either. Unless your doing a lot of close to WOT, I don't think you need one.

Just Google MC1 drive shower. Plenty of them out there. Top of them retained by lift ring

I contacted Simrek who produces the showers that SEI produces, they said I would have to either grind down my lift ring or swap out the top bearing cap on the upper unit with a alpha gen 1... Did you have any issues with this?

PPT and a dozen others have them for the MC1 that fit. No grinding, no fiddling, no modifying. Just Bolt and go

I really think they are a waste of money for most boats. Unless you are racing and going balls to the wall, most people don't need them.
