My 15hp merc (0R446065) broke down about a month ago. I hesitantly took apart the lower unit after doing some research, and found that my driveshaft bearing (the upper one not the needle bearing) had busted and sent shrapnel all thru my LU. I had to replace the forward and pinion gear due to wear from the shrapnel. My parts have just arrived, i’ve got the forward gear in its bearing and pressed into the gear case, but I cannot figure out how my new bearing is supposed to go back together on the drive shaft. it looks as if the outter ring of the old bearing might still be in its place, but I have no idea how it might come out if that’s what i’m looking at and if it isn’t that, i’m confused on where to find reliable parts because this bearing I got off boats.net for my specific motor does not fit how it’s supposed to to allow the water pump to seal properly. Does anyone possibly have any insight into what my problem could be?

well with some pent up rage i took two screw drivers and barely got them under a lip and was able to pry out the old bearing - it was the outter shell still stuck inside the LU
