A friend of mine ask me to pose this question so here it goes. He has a 95 Johnson 130. He took it out last weekend and everthing was running fine. But into his trip while running around 5000 rpms the engine cut down to around 4200-4500 rpms just long enough to turn back and look at the motor and it would run back up to 5000. It did this a few times but never dropped down for to long and never more than 500-800 rpms. Any thoughts.

What has he checked out so far as possibility?Could be fuel delivery problem, fouled carburetor high speed circuit, intermittent loss of spark to one cylinder.

Well as of now that is all I know. He is planning on changing his spark plugs, as for what else he is planning that is up in the air. I'll get to talk with him later so maybe he'll let me know what he is doing. I went ahead and posted the problem to see if maybe there was an obvious solution.

Maybe he'll get lucky and find a bad plug.Tell him to check all connections to and from the coils and to inspect his fuel lines from tank to carbs.
