Dropped slow speed needle valve

I was rebuidling the carb on a 1980 9.90 HP Johnson Model J10selcse. I dropped the slow speed needle valve and it landed on its edge on a concrete floor. After a few expletives I looked at the valve and found that the point was unsmooth and was very slightly bent. Is this valve completely ruined now? Is it OK to place it in the carb and test run to see how it goes? Any suggestions for ordering a replacement? it is OMC part # 386152.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Best to replace it if it's still available. However, you could put that valve in a electric drill chuck and attempt to dress that point up to as close as normal with a file or whatever other tool you might have in mind. Just keep the bevel on the initial angle.

386152 is replaced by 432781, about $12. If it isn't bent very much, try just pressing it against a hard surface to see if it will bend back. They are pretty soft and will bend some without breaking. If it does break, you can always reshape it or replace it.

Thanks guys,

I will try re-shaping it but will order the replacement just to be sure.
