Drove off with the bow mount down...

3rd trip of this year, and hadent had any luck... Saw some crappie schooling at the top nearby and i was off!!!

Turns out my trolling motor was off too, off the side of the boat. I broke what looks like the bearing that attaches the directional housing to the lower end that the prop is on. Anyone know how to fix this/where to get cheap parts? It's an old minn Kota 33 lb with foot control.

I now have to lean over the side of the boat to turn the lower end by hand to aim where I want to go, but it still turns the prop well/has power. If use the foot pedal my red direction indicator at the top pops off and it only will turn the direction I started turning it, then it just locks up. Any suggestions? Thoughts? Ideas? Comedic responses?

Hate to say it but repairing an old electric trolling motor unless its something simple like a foot pedal replacement or new blade is almost never worth it. As soon as major damage rears its ugly head start saving for a new one...murphys law has great effect with these things.

I have two old PD MK's, both need minor parts like control boards and foot pedals. I wont fix any of them since I know as soon as I drop $250 to fix one something else will break on it.

Warranty and sales pricing is how the mfgs keep the product moving and the newer models have features that make repairing the old models kinda pointless.

Pretty sure the control board is $250 for the old PD and the foot pedal is $150-$180...thats half of new and no warranty. Its your cash, spend it how you like.

Not true. Replacement foot pedals for Power Drives are available new for $75. But I agree. If the motor is damaged it will likely leak water into it and it is matter of time until goes to trolling motor heaven. Buy a new one. Tillers are a bit over $100. Power Drives certainly are not $1100 and cable steered are $200 - $300 depending on power.
