I went to two different marinas got two different answers. Had water in my gas so started asking local marinas what to do. One down near the ocean that a family member worked at suggested dry gas (name brand).said it was only alchol it wont hurt it any. I had a bottle in my shed so i dumped it in prob about 4oz to 6 gallons of gas. the boat seemed to run fine idle smoother etc. was doing some other carb work nd stocking up on spare plugs at a different marina when i asked about dry gas they all started telling me it was no good for the engine, one bottle could ruin a engine. they suggested a product called ezorb contains no alchol or methanol and is supposed to get the water out at a pricey 21.99 for 20 something ounces. my question is is dry gas good or bad?

Seems every Marina is well stocked with know it alls who know zip.

Water cannot be gotten "out" of the gas with chemicals. It can be prevented from separating in small amounts by StaBil for Ethanol fuel, also called Marine StaBil.

I know nothing of Dry Gas or Esorb that is not just so much mythology.

Your best protection, Maxum, is to not store E10 for any length of time over a month or two and to use a very good water separating fuel filter.

yes marinas have a abundence of people who chyme in on your problems when they have no clue on their own. aside from my recent throttle issues on my 85hp force (no throttle in nuetral , full throttle in gear if you want details or have ideas feel free to check out my running issues post on the force forum or pm cause im am lost and about to sell that pos boat) but i can figure most mechanical things out. my question was more of, will dry gas damage your fuel system and or engine?

The only way to effectively remove water from the bottom of the tank is to siphon it out. The rest will be removed by your water separating filter.

Dry gas is nothing more than alcohol. It's no better at removing the water in your tank than the alcohol in a tank full of fresh E-10 fuel.

Ezorb is an emulsifier. That stuff isn?t going in my fuel tank

Correct but dry gas is usually isopropyl or sometimes methanol vs. ethanol. Not that it makes much difference I don't reckon.

I 'member my dear ole Pappy telling me years ago he used dry gas in the winter time to prevent the water that was already in the tank from freezing.

Well for the 3 years I spent in Alaska (long before E-gas), those who used a dryer in deep winter kept right on motoring. Those who didn't ended up renting a heated space to thaw the fuel system.

If E-gas absorbs (and burns) moisture, and too much moisture saturates the alcohol and results in phase separation, why wouldn't Dry Gas or whatever do the same? And the OP didn't say he has E-gas (I don't, either), so there's no reason to assume such ...

I got the water out of my tank with a pump ball siphon pump, 8 dollars thanks harbor freight tools! the brand name dry gas that I used is isopropyl. Im currently only using fresh 91 octane and oil 50:1 no dry gas or anything just trying to collect future knowledge the people at the marina made it seem like i dumped a can of sugar in the gas tank. and apologies Im still a little green can you tell me what you mean by "Ezorb is an emulsifier. That stuff isn?t going in my fuel tank " whats a emulsifer?

An emulsifier makes the water mix into the fuel and not seperate out.

Ah I get it. Yeah that stuff will never see my fuel tank again. Ima just run a inline water fuel seperator.Thinking of one that looks like a oil filter. I have a outboard going from a plastic tank and no room in the lower end of the cowl for it so hopefully afixing it to the fuel line off the tank before the fuel filter will be all i need.
