My paw has an 82 27 ft carver, it's currently dry docked, but he's curious aboiut moving it to a wet slip. It's an i/o, with raw water cooling. The boat was designed to be trailered, so i dont beleive there are any zincs on it other than the one on the outdrive. Ive put it into his head that he oughtta be concerned about doing this as it will create problems down the road. He wanted me to make this posting and see if any old salts have any opinion on the matter. He's most liekly going to move it to the wet slip anyway, but is there anything he can do to make the boat more resilient to the saltwater?

I would keep it dry racked. A trailer for a Carver that size may need to be a 3 axle. As far as a wet slip goes check the water for electricity and install a mercathode system on it, plus a way to flush the engine with fresh water if it is going to sit for long periods of time. Which brings up the usage, if he doesn't use it frequently it would be better to keep it out of the water.

Really recommend you tell him not to leave an outdrive in the water things will grow in places you can't get to to remove them.

The drive should actually have a couple zincs one on the front, one one each tilt ram and one behind the prop.

But serously it's a horrible idea.
