1st post ever, great sight very informative. I own a 03 Caravelle 207, and am finatical about keeping it looking brand-new. I have seen many posts regarding vertglass and have considered using it to protect a new boat, any thoughts?? I have been using a product called dry-wash...it makes the boat look great and repells dirt awesome. I am just very realistic and with dry-wash I feel like its to good to be true!! I am sure it is silicone based, has anyone ever heard of or used this stuff?? I Just want to keep her like New!

Re: Dry Wash

Hi, JackG..

I'm prolly gonna get a hard time for this, but Vertglass and all that "stuff" like it is plain old fashion snake oil... Good for maybe a year, then it turns to a chalky mess which either has to be re-coated with the same overpriced "stuff", or it has to be machine buffed off and done right (ie. good buffing to take care oxidation, if any; and a wax job)... Been there, done that..

03, eh?.. IMHO, the best way to kep her looking new is by keeping her covered, and using a good wax a couple times a year... 3M and Meguiers products come to mind ;) ..

Re: Dry Wash

Thank you both, confirmed what I was already suspecting... Old fashion elbow greese with a good solid boat wax. She sits in a garage every night, never outside and always covered up.
Merry x mas to all!! 90 days until Boating in MO!!

I'm with Snapper.

Years ago we ran an auto body shop, and while it's true that a two-pack clear sprayed over a well-prepared grp base will give an amazing gloss finish, once it gets nicked or scratched - or abraded (read 'bunks') you're down problem street.

Buff and wax. then after that ... wax. Etc.
Keeps you fit, and helps you to get to know your boat intimately.
