Hi,

Im about to buy a 1996 Suzuki DT100 V-4 with a damaged lower unit (has hole in it)- my question is which other Suzuki model lower units would also fit on that motor? Im mainly interested in the housing since I could take it apart and change gears or whatsoever if necessary....

Thanks,
Rotti

Re: DT 100 lower unit problems

I do not believe that any other lower units will fit that particular unit, but just a check on the net or your manual will give you the info. What I would not suggest doing is taking apare the lower unit to install in another unless you have done it before with someone who knows how it is done. Those lower units are very trickey and the books are some what limited on directions. Too many problems could occurr and finding out you have one is after you put it back togather and try it out. I believe that you could locate a used one for a fair price. Try that first. Even though you will pay a price, a rebuilt lower for that one would be pricy.
;)

I have a 1995 DT90. The DT90 and DT100 are mainley the same motor except for the jets in the carb.
Go to www.brownspoint.com and download the parts manual.

Rotti,
Where's the hole? If it's in a non critical/non- stress area a competent tig welder should be able to fix you up for a lot less money than buying a lower leg.
JD

Re: DT 100 lower unit problems

Talked to one Suzuki dealer and they told me that the bottom end on my DF70 is the same as the old DT100. I checked in a manual and they sure look the same on the outside. Haven't done a side by side comparison but you could take the boat to a dealer and see if it actually is the same unit, talk to a mechanic or even email Suzuki directly.
