dt 150 tachometer problems

I have a 86 dt150 that sometimes the tach will work correctly and other times it jumps up and down betweem 1 and 2 thousand rpm and other times it is completely dead. I know the tach control unit is probably what i need to change but suzuki discontinued them. Any ideas or does anyone know where i can get a used tach control unit??? all replys are much appreciated. thanks

Don't know the answer for sure, but it really sounds like a loose connection at the back of the Tach, but I'm only guessing, but it really seems like a loose connection somewhere.
